Palmerston Australia Day Awards

City of Palmerston recognises the contributions members of our community make towards a brighter and better future, keeping our vision 'A Place for People', alive.

We acknowledge and recognise the selfless efforts of individuals and groups within our community, who embrace this vision through the Palmerston Australia Day Awards.

We encourage you to make a nominate for these prestigious awards and recognise other's commitment to our community.

 

2023 nominations are now open

Nominations are simple and can be done online below. Please read the following criteria and eligibility requirements prior to submitting a nomination.

Nominations close Friday 25 November 2022.

Please ensure you consider the following when making your nomination/s.

  • You must advise the person that you are nominating
  • You must provide accurate information
  • You must provide an up-to-date image of the nominee
  • You must upload any supporting documentation to the nomination application
  • The nominee must agree to have their photo taken and used on future City of Palmerston promotional material and other publications
  • The nominee must agree to be contacted by a media company (nominated by City of Palmerston) for an interview
  • The nominee must agree to being filmed and video being used across chosen channels

All nominees will be notified after the closing date, advising they have been nominated and inviting them and their nominators to attend the Australia Day Awards evening and Australia Day ceremony on Australia Day.

 

Categories

Citizen of the Year

Must be 30 years or older as at 26 January 2023.

Must be an Australian Citizen.

Must reside in the Municipality of Palmerston.

Consideration is given, but not limited to the following selection criteria;

  • Has performed a service to the community
  • Has played an inspirational role for the Australian Community
  • Has shown achievements in community activities, academic, sporting, personal cultural, environmental and or social responsibility
Young Citizen of the Year

Must be under 30 years as at 26 January 2023.

Must be an Australian Citizen.

Must reside in the Municipality of Palmerston.

Consideration is given, but not limited to the following selection criteria;

  • Has performed a service to the community
  • Has played an inspirational role for the Australian Community
  • Has shown achievements in community activities, academic, sporting, personal cultural, environmental and or social responsibility
Community Event of the Year

This award is to recognise and encourage significant contributions to community life and to promote national pride and community responsibility within the Palmerston Municipality.

Consideration is given, but not limited to the following selection criteria;

  • Raised funds for a community charity, event, or project
  • Was a successful project, event, or activity
  • Brought credit or recognition to a community through a cultural, environmental, or sporting achievement

 

The event must have occurred in the Municipality of Palmerston.
