Play Space Upgrades

Palmerston is undergoing some redesign projects throughout some of the parks and playgrounds. The redesign will realize opportunities for nature-based play, integrating play equipment with the surrounding landscape. Nature-based play promoted supports the concept of more creative and imaginative play, promoting intellectual and cognitive elements of play both of which are key development needs in children’s play

Tiverton Park

In conjunction with children from the Moulden Park Primary School, Council prepared a concept plan and invited tenders for the replacement of the playground at Tiverton Park with a view to developing a play space that integrates the existing play equipment with the basketball half-court.

The project will be completed in October/November 2021. (Playground is complete as of 6 October 2021 and grassed area is undergoing some rejuvenation before officially opening in November).

The visions of the primary students have come to life as the refurbishment has seen a new and improved playground including a spider climbing frame, flying fox, exercise area, bbq area and basketball court!

Phyllis Uren Park

Preparations have begun on site at Phyllis Uren, and the playground is currently closed ( as at 27/09/21). The playground installation will occur during October and November with a reopening date of mid December, in time for Christmas school holidays. The park will see new nature-based play incorporated in the play space, and landscaping upgrades to complement the shade structure that was recently constructed.
