Information for Approved Australian Citizenship Applications
Following the approval of your Australian citizenship application, the final step in the citizenship process is attendance at a Citizenship Ceremony, where you will make the Australian Citizenship Pledge of Commitment.
The Department of Home Affairs (Queensland) allocates approved applicants to a citizenship ceremony and provides Council with a list of conferees approximately four weeks prior to each ceremony. Until this list is received, Council is unable to confirm your position on the waitlist, influence ceremony allocations, or advise which ceremony you will be assigned to.
Once Council has received the list, invitations will be issued to conferees via email.
If you are unable to attend your allocated ceremony, please notify Council as soon as possible. This information will be provided to the Department of Home Affairs, and you will be returned to the waitlist to be allocated to the next available ceremony.
To update your contact details (including a change of address), or for any enquiries regarding ceremony allocations, please contact the Department of Home Affairs (Queensland) on 13 18 80 or via email at ceremony.qld@homeaffairs.gov.au
