The City of Palmerston has taken a pledge to make their buildings breastfeeding friendly spaces and encourage businesses around Palmerston to do the same.
To help provide a breastfeeding friendly space, there are certain things that mothers have listed as being of prime importance; cleanliness, privacy, comfortable (seating) and having space to move a pram. These provisions are simple and affordable to introduce into many workplaces and businesses and the benefits far outweigh any necessary inclusions.
One of the main reasons behind our push to create more breastfeeding friendly spaces is to work towards normalising breastfeeding to ensure all mothers, whether breast or bottle feeding, feel comfortable, safe and welcome wherever they go.
We encourage you to join us in taking the pledge to help make places and spaces around Palmerston convenient and comfortable for breastfeeding mothers and their families.
