Palmerston Alderman Sarah Henderson will become the City’s next Deputy Mayor, having been elected by her Council colleagues at last night’s ordinary meeting.
At its first ordinary meeting as the newly elected Council, Elected Members endorsed the terms for the position of Deputy Mayor to be for a period of five months, allowing the opportunity for all Aldermen to perform the duty.
Alderman Henderson will be Council’s Deputy Mayor from Wednesday 20 February 2019 to Saturday 20 July 2019 (inclusive).
On acceptance, Alderman Henderson thanked the Elected Members for their support.
“I thank my fellow Aldermen for sharing this opportunity. I’m very passionate about continuing the good work this Council has started and look forward to serving the community in this new role.”
City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell congratulated Alderman Henderson on her appointment.
“On behalf of Council I congratulate Alderman Henderson on her appointment as the upcoming Deputy Mayor. I know she will continue to represent the Palmerston community with great dignity and pride.”
“I also would like to thank outgoing Deputy Mayor Mick Spick for his support and hard work during his time in the position,” Mayor Pascoe-Bell added.
