City of Palmerston will commemorate the day with our official ceremony; welcoming the country’s newest residents in a special Citizenship Ceremony, raising the National Flags of Australia and presenting the prestigious Palmerston Australia Day Awards. 

Cultural performances are integrated throughout the official proceedings and free light lunch is served on conclusion of the proceedings.

The 2025 ceremony will be hosted at the Palmerston Recreation Centre from 1.00pm on Friday, 26 January, with community members encouraged to attend.

Australia Day is an opportunity for us to reflect on our nation’s past; a history which began more than 65,000 years ago with the First Australians. It’s a day to embrace cultural diversity with respect and integrity, and to celebrate sharing stories, history, and contributions of everyday Australians.

This event is assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council and Australia Day Council Northern Territory.
