On the 26th of January each year, City of Palmerston commemorates the day with its Official Ceremony, where our country’s newest residents are welcomed in a special Citizenship Ceremony; raise the National Flags of Australia and present the city's coveted Australia Day Awards.
The ceremony also includes a traditional Welcome to Country, special performances by local artists and the acknowledgement of Student Citizen Award winners from Palmerston schools.
The 2023 official ceremony will be hosted at the Palmerston Recreation Centre from 1.00pm on Thursday 26 January.
Australia Day is an opportunity for us to reflect on our nation’s past; a history which began more than 65,000 years ago with the First Australians. A day on which we respect and share stories, history, and contributions of everyday Australians.
This event is sponsored by the Australia Day Council, Northern Territory.
