Building upon the insights gained from the Creative Business 101 workshop, where participants recognised the importance of a dedicated "How to Create a Business Plan" session, this workshop will provide you with the tools and guidance necessary to shape your business's strategic roadmap.

Establishing goals and milestones

This session will focus on defining your business's vision and establishing both short-term and long-term goals. You'll learn how to create a clear roadmap for your business's growth and success, identifying key milestones along the way.

Efficient and impactful communication

Effective communication and marketing are crucial for any creative business. In this session, you'll learn strategies to efficiently communicate your brand's message and value proposition to your target audience. You'll explore various marketing channels and tactics to maximise the impact of your efforts.

Identifying opportunities

Understanding the landscape in which your creative business operates is essential. This session will guide you in conducting market research to identify potential opportunities for growth and expansion. Additionally, you'll learn how to analyze and assess your competitors to gain a competitive advantage.

Create your "Money story"

Financial management is a vital aspect of running a successful business. During this session, you'll delve into understanding your business's financials, including revenue streams, expenses, and profit margins. You'll also learn how to develop a compelling "money story" that effectively communicates the financial health and potential of your business to stakeholders such as investors or clients.

Priorities and action plan

To achieve your goals, it's crucial to set priorities and develop an action plan. In this session, you'll learn how to prioritise tasks and projects based on their impact and align them with your business goals. Britt Guy

Britt Guy is a transdisciplinary producer and curator working across the creative, government and community sectors. Her practice is diverse in outcome, while all underpinned by the same processes which are committed to community connection, collaboration and place-based specificity. Her experience includes working in partnership with not-for-profit organisations, the private sector and all tiers of government. Within this she has established and built programs, festivals, strategies and advocacy frameworks, investing in creating high-quality creative community outcomes that foster the plurality of intersectional experiences with a commitment to First Nations voices.

 

Shauna Upton

Shauna Upton is a highly experienced event management professional, with a wealth of knowledge in marketing, communications, and project management. With over 10 years of experience in the arts and professional sporting industries, Shauna has a proven track record of success in organising and executing events of all sizes. Currently, Shauna runs her own small business managing artists and events, while also producing broadcast radio for ABC. Her commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility is reflected in her professional practice, where she works to platform a variety of voices and ensure the arts are welcoming and available to all.
