Bring along a picnic, blanket, or even a bean bag and settle in for a night under the stars. 

Join us for a night of performances usually reserved for the streets of Edinburgh and the big tops of Cirque-du-Soleil. Hosted by Queensland's brightest emerging comedy talent Melon the Human, Abby Kelso, Sammy George and Jack Bradley.

Backed by a banging soundtrack that will make you long for a simpler time and a spectacular lighting design. A smorgasbord of talent for the whole family that is not to be missed!

Performers Bio

Melon the Human
Melon the Human: far more skilled at circus than he appears and accompanied with dry, awkward wit. Specialising in object manipulation, Melon has left audiences around the world stunned with his juggling finesse of unique objects including the broom and cube.

Abby Kelso
Abby Kelso (they/them) is a circus artist, director, and producer from Brisbane. Circus has changed Abby’s life, and given them the strength and confidence to be unapologetically themselves. They are passionate about representation of LGBTQIA+ performers and making art accessible for all. To that end, in 2019 they started an entertainment agency, Sparkle Society, with their longtime business partner, Latonya Wigginton. Sparkle Society works with over 30 artists in Brisbane, and most recently has taken their full-length show Cab Suave on tour around Australia.

Sammy George
Sammy is a ground-based circus specialist. He has been developing his skills with Corrugated Iron Youth Arts for over a decade. He has represented Australia at International Skipping Competitions and bring this awesome talent into the circus space. More recently, Sammy has expanded his performance repertoire becoming an active member of the Slide Youth Dance and NT Dance companies. He has had key roles in many productions, including Secrets (2021), Someone Else’s Story (2021), Falling (2022). Sammy is looking forward to upcoming performances Conjure, at the 2022 Darwin Fringe Festival, and Waŋa, at the 2022 Darwin Festival.

Jack Bradley
Jack specialises in unicycling, juggling and acro. He has been a part of Corrugated Iron Youth Arts for five years, with the last three of these as a teaching artist. Jack has extensive experience with fire-based circus skills and loves wowing audiences with his intricate juggling displays. Performance highlights include the interstate travelling production, Corrosion (2018), and he has a lead role in the Darwin Fringe Festival show, Conjure. Jack also has experience with sound, lighting and special effects.

 

Music Acts

Bella Maree
In the last 13 years, requiring a lot of perseverance & dedication, Bella Maree has already accomplished a wide range of goals in the music world. These include singing at the Carols By Candlelight for an audience of 10,000 when she was just 10 years old, making it through to X Factor's TV Auditions as well as The Voice Blind Auditions 2 years in a row with the 2nd audition getting national airtime on the channel 9 network of Australia plus worldwide coverage through the internet.

Bella Maree wrote, recorded and co-produced her 1st EP Album with Pacific International Music Studios between the ages of just 11 & 12 alongside her brother, Keanu, in their duo "Strange Angel". Bella booked an entire east coast tour on her own at only 16 after her 2nd time round in the studio recording her Solo EP "Keeping Busy" with P.I.M, with Josh Lovegrove coming along tour as her featured support act.

Brian Cullen
Brian is a musician, guitarist, and teacher based in Darwin, Australia.
He has been a contributing artist to the Darwin music scene for more than two decades with a slew of performances that breadth across over 10 genres. 
Brian's specialty is playing concert guitar music as a soloist, in duets and in combined ensembles. Brian's repertoire of Baroque, Latin, Spanish, and Modern classical music as well as Bossa-Nova and Jazz guitar excites and challenges the heart.

​He has self-recorded and produced several CDs, been a guest artist in a range of live and pre-recorded works, given many live concerts, lectures and has taught several thousand guitar students from ages 4 to 76.

Creatives Bio

Alexander Butt 
His directing credits include Fully Committed, Being Norwegian, Crocodile Tears, Tender Naplam (Brevity Theatre), Nautilus: A Voyage to the Deep (Monkey Baa), Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth (shake & stir). He was the Assistant Director to David Berthold on Ruben Guthrie for La Boite Theatre. As an actor, he has worked with shake & stir, Queensland Theatre, Rocksurfers Theatre Company, Brevity Theatre, Monkey Baa Theatre Company and New Theatre. Alexander has appeared in Reef Break (ABC Studios International), Rake Series 4 (Essential Media & Entertainment), Farscape (Nine Network) and Kangaroo Jack (Castle Rock Entertainment). He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) from QUT and a Master of Applied Theatre Studies from UNE.

VC Builds
Michael Richardson is a Brisbane-based Lighting Designer and Tech Artist.
Currently, Michael is based at the Princess Theatre as an in-house Lighting Designer as well as creating interactive light and sound experiences for festival audiences. Michael's past Lighting Design credits include a number of works for Casus Circus, The Delta Riggs, and Claire Marshals "Flaunt".
