Palmerston Alderman, Amber Garden is preparing to take on her new role as the City’s Deputy Mayor, having been elected by her Council colleagues at the March second ordinary meeting.

Deputy Mayor Garden will perform this role from 25 March 2021 until the declaration of 2021 Local Government Election results.

On acceptance, Alderman Garden thanked the Elected Members for their support.

“I would like to thank my fellow Alderman for allowing me to experience this position of Deputy Mayor for a second time and looking forward to this opportunity.”

“I am particularly passionate about promoting animal management reforms and continuing the conversation with the community in regard to our Animal Management By-Laws discussion paper.  I welcome changes that will benefit our community,” Alderman Garden said.

City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell is pleased to see Alderman Garden elected as Council new Deputy Mayor. 

“On behalf of Council I would like to congratulate Alderman Garden on her appointment as the forthcoming Deputy Mayor. I know she will continue to represent the people of Palmerston with great pride.”

“I would also like to thank Alderman Lewis for his support and service during his time in this position,” she said.
