Palmerston Youth Festival has opportunities for organisations and businesses to connect and showcase their services. There are also opportunities for young people to get involved with the planning and promotion of the Festival. We are seeking expressions of interest for multiple areas of the overall Palmerston Youth Festival and Geekfest Top End, for more information see below: 

Overall Palmerston Youth Festival

City of Palmerston is looking for food vendors, youth activity providers, community organisations and youth working group members for 2024’s Palmerston Youth Festival.

Youth opportunities: We want young people to be part of the planning and promotion of the festival. If you would like to help plan and deliver the Palmerston Youth Festival and learn new skills, the Youth Working Group could be ideal for you.

Food vendors: provide food and drinks for patrons at Palmy’s Got Talent & live music concert*

Activity providers: We are looking for a range of activities for young people, such as circus entertainers, fire shows and photo booths at the following:

  • NAIDOC Pool Party: 7 July
  • Youth Pride: 8 July 
  • Sportsfest: 9 July
  • Palmys Got Talent: 10 July
  • Pamper Palmy: 11 July 
     

Community Organisations: We are looking for community organisations that support young people between the ages of 12 – 25 years, this is the ideal opportunity to engage with young people and connect them in with your services. Organisations can set up a stall at the events listed below and engage with attendees:

  • NAIDOC Pool Party
  • Youth Pride
  • Sportsfest
  • Palmys Got Talent
  • Pamper Palmy

Geekfest Top End

Geek culture is huge in Palmerston, with Geekfest Top End being the most popular event of the festival. This is being held on 6 July 2024. We are seeking the following:

  • Food vendors
  • Merchandise stalls
  • Geek Culture activity providers/organisations
  • Stall holders related to pathway opportunities, STEM, business, innovation and Geek Culture clubs and programs
  • Exhibition stalls arts and hobbyists

How are the expressions of interest awarded?

Criteria for EOI Overall Palmerston Youth Festival

Food vendors:

  • Menu and purchase price – food menu and prices to suit the event and audience and support a variety of food options at the event.
  • Environmental sustainability – sustainable practices such as paper straws, and biodegradable packaging.
  • Availability, registration and insurance – availability for the dates and times advised including bump-in and bump-out requirements. Vendors must have a Registration of Food Business with the NT Government and hold current public liability insurance.
     
Community organisations:
  • Palmerston-based – organisations must be accessible to the Palmerston community.
  • Youth-specific and contribution to the event – organisations must have services that cater to the youth demographic and detail the benefits provided by attending the event.
  • Availability – for the dates and times required including bump-in and bump-out requirements.
     
Activity provider:
  • Cost – value for money.
  • Relevance to event – Activity providers must provide age-appropriate activities that are relevant to the theme of each event.
  • Availability – for the dates and times required including bump in and bump out.
     
Youth Opportunities:
  • Youth demographic – must be between the age of 15 - 25 years.
  • Ability to commit to meeting schedule – commit to regular attendance to the working group in the capacity of the role chosen.
  • Interest in contributing to City of Palmerston events – the reason for wanting to be part of the Working Group?

  • Cost – value for money.
  • Relevance to event – Activity providers must provide age-appropriate activities that are relevant to the theme of the event.
  • Availability – for the dates and times required including bump in and bump out.
     
Exhibitions stalls:
  • Relevance to event – Activity providers must provide age-appropriate activities that are relevant to the theme of the event.
  • Availability – for the dates and times required including bump in and bump out.
     
Merchandise stalls:
  • Relevance to event – Activity providers must provide age-appropriate activities that are relevant to the theme of the event.
  • Availability – for the dates and times required including bump in and bump out.

FAQ

Food and drinks

Attendees are welcome to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks to all events. Food trucks will be available at some events.

Weather

In July the days are sunny, and the nights are mild. The weather couldn’t be better!

Services

Do you provide cloaking and storage?
Geekfest will accept Cosplay items but does not provide a cloaking or storage services for personal belongings. All other events will not have a cloaking or storage services for personal belongings

Will there be First Aid?
All events will have first aid officer available if needed. If you hurt yourself let one of the event staff know.

What about lost property?
Lost property can be handed in or collected from event staff.
Just identify your missing item to claim it if it has been handed in. Realise you’ve lost something after the event? All lost property will be taken to the Palmerston Recreation Centre and can be collected there, you can call 8935 9975

Prohibited items

The following items are prohibited at Palmerston Youth Festival: glass, sharp objects, aerosol cans, pets, alcohol and illegal substances. No professional photographic equipment, professional audio recorders or video cameras will be permitted. 

Zero tolerance 

We have a zero tolerance approach for any antisocial, aggressive, dangerous or intimidating behaviour, consumption and possession of alcohol, consumption and possession of any illicit substances. Any of these activities will result in immediate eviction from the event.

Designated accessible parking will be available at all venues.
