Pre-cyclone clean up 2025
Before each wet season, we conduct a hard rubbish collection service to help residents prepare for the cyclone season. The hard waste collection is divided into four (4) zones, with collection commencing from different dates.

Place your hard waste on the verge the weekend before your designated collection date.

Safety tips
When placing items on the verge:
- Make sure all footpaths, gutters and roads are kept clear and pedestrians have safe access to walkways.
- Group similar items together eg. metals, furniture and building materials, and place them securely.
- Only place out items you can lift.
- Remove glass and doors from appliances.
- Do not place prohibited items on the verge.

Separating waste streams
Before placing items on the verge, please consider:
• Can the item be repurposed or repaired?
• Could it be donated to the Reuse Shop at Archer Waste Management Facility?
• Can it be recycled instead of going to landfill?
By separating items on your verge, it will be easier for our contractor to ensure they are reused or recycled to support our community’s sustainability goals
Frequently asked questions
We aim to have all material from verges collected within one (1) weeks of the material being placed on the verge.
One of our objectives for this clean-up is to achieve maximum diversion and recycling rates. Residents can assist in this process by depositing their materials into pre-sorted piles according to whether it is white goods, made of steel or reusable household furniture.
This service is for collecting hard waste that can be difficult to remove before the cyclone season, due to their size or weight (i.e. household furniture). Green waste can be taken to the Archer Waste Management Facility year-round.
If a material is left on the verge that is not an approved material type, it will not be collected as part of the clean-up. Residents will be expected to remove the waste from the verge of their own accord.
Contractors collecting the waste will make a record of the type and quantity of waste they collect at each address. If additional material is deposited, it will not be collected as part of the clean-up and the resident will be expected to remove the waste from the verge of their own accord.
