City of Palmerston has officially opened the Zuccoli Pump Track, creating a new destination for riders of all ages and abilities and marking a major milestone in the growing Zuccoli Community Hub.

The pump track is a first for Palmerston, creating yet another inclusive space for skill development and active outdoor recreation.

This continuous loop of round bumps and banked turns can be ridden on bikes, scooters and even skates, by beginners all the way through to advanced riders.

Located within the site surrounded by Tuckeroo Boulevard and Feathertop Circuit in Zuccoli, the track forms part of stage two of the Zuccoli Community Hub.

Community consultation in 2024 helped shape the design, with residents calling for an experienced pump track designer, a surface suitable for all skill levels and an asphalt track. These priorities have been delivered, creating a high quality and accessible community asset.

Mayor of City of Palmerston, Athina Pascoe-Bell, said the project reflects Council’s commitment to delivering community-driven spaces.

“The Zuccoli Pump Track shows what is possible when we listen to our community and deliver spaces people genuinely want and use,” Mayor Pascoe-Bell said.

“It provides a safe and inclusive place for young people, families and riders of all abilities to get active and connect, while supporting the growth of our suburbs.”

The pump track is part of stage two of the Zuccoli Community Hub. Works completed to date have a combined value of approximately $2.3 million, including a $250,000 Northern Territory Government Immediate Priority Grant for the pump track.

Local Member for Spillett Lia Finocchiaro said the Northern Territory Government was proud to contribute funding towards the Zuccoli Community Hub.

“This development represents one of three major projects being delivered for City of Palmerston and is a significant investment in the growing Zuccoli community,” Mrs Finocchiaro said.

“The Zuccoli Community Hub will not only benefit local residents but also families from across Palmerston, providing a vibrant, welcoming space for people of all ages to connect, relax and enjoy quality facilities close to home.”

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Community Development Steve Edgington said The CLP Government is helping Territorians live happier and healthier lives.

“Delivering better infrastructure is central to the CLP Government’s commitment to restoring the Territory lifestyle and the Zuccoli Pump Track will be a wonderful asset for the residents of Palmerston to get out and enjoy these new facilities,” Mr Edgington said.

Additional recreational features that have already been designed for stage two include a future skate park, multipurpose court, exercise equipment and further activity spaces, with City of Palmerston continuing to explore partnership and funding opportunities.

The pump track builds on the success of stage one of the Zuccoli Community Hub, the dog park, which is already well used by residents. Stage three of the hub has also commenced with the design of the community buildings, event space and playground with the Australian Government committing $10 million to enable the construction of the buildings.

Riders are reminded the pump track is designed to be ridden using body movement, no pedalling required. For the safety of all users, motorised bikes and scooters are not permitted

City of Palmerston welcomes residents and visitors to experience the Zuccoli Pump Track and enjoy this growing community space.
