City of Palmerston’s 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey results are in, showing the community is more satisfied than ever with Council’s performance. The overall satisfaction score has risen to 7.26 out of 10, the highest since the survey began and up from 6.95 in 2024.

The survey, conducted in July by an independent research company, gathered feedback from a representative sample of Palmerston residents through both phone and online interviews. More than 600 residents took part, providing valuable insights about Council’s services, facilities and engagement with the community. The survey took around 20 minutes to complete and helps identify what residents value most and where Council can continue to improve.

High performing areas once again included Palmerston Library and its services, kerbside waste collection, community events and the pre-cyclone clean up. New to the list of top-rated services this year were the Archer Waste Management Facility and SWELL, both recognised by residents for their quality and impact.

The survey highlighted key areas where the community would like to see further focus, including supporting innovation and attracting new businesses and creating more opportunities for residents to participate in Council’s decision-making processes. The most important issue raised by residents remains crime and community safety.

City of Palmerston values community feedback and uses it to guide ongoing improvement. Areas identified for development play an important role in shaping future planning, policies and projects that reflect the community’s needs and expectations. While we do take the feedback into consideration, we aim to continually improve in the areas that receive high results too.

City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell said the results demonstrate growing confidence in Council’s direction.

“It is great to hear directly from our community that they are satisfied with the services we provide,” Mayor Pascoe-Bell said. “Seeing the improvement in our overall score shows we are moving in the right direction and our staff are working hard to deliver for the community.”

“We also recognise the ongoing concerns around crime and safety and continue to work closely with police and other community organisations to address these issues. For our local businesses, we hear you too. We are taking active steps to strengthen economic development opportunities and attract more investment into our city.”

Council welcomes feedback from the community throughout the year, not only through the annual survey but also via phone, email, in person or through the City of Palmerston app.
