Get ready to reel in the excitement! City of Palmerston's 'Hooked On Palmerston' Barramundi Catch and Release competition is back for its fourth season. Running from June to September, this year’s competition offers over $4,000 in business vouchers, making it a catch for anglers of all ages.

The Northern Territory Government released 110 juvenile tagged Barramundi. Grown at the Darwin Aquaculture Centre these young Barramundi are vital for maintaining our beloved recreational fishing in our community. Stocking freshwater bodies like our local lakes ensures that fishing enthusiasts have plenty of opportunities to engage in the sport.

City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell highlights the significance stating, "we're thrilled to bring back this competition and offer over $4,000 in local business vouchers as prizes. It's fantastic to collaborate with the Northern Territory Government to encourage our community to enjoy our beautiful lakes. This competition not only promotes recreational fishing but also strengthens our local economy and brings our community together.

Community recreation is at the heart of Palmerston’s spirit. The Hooked On Palmerston competition not only promotes outdoor activity and a healthy lifestyle but also strengthens our community ties. We encourage everyone to make the most of our beautiful lakes and enjoy the dry season with family and friends."

To join the fun, simply register online, then head to Sanctuary Lakes, Durack Lakes or Marlow Lagoon to start fishing. Remember, Hooked On Palmerston is a catch and release competition.

All participants must follow the guidelines for catching fish, stay crocwise around our waterways, and ensure their fishing equipment is free of weeds before leaving the lake.
