Palmerston pooches are set to receive some exciting improvements to the City of Palmerston’s much-loved Marlow Lagoon Dog Park.

The new concept design was supported by 336 Palmerston’s dog owners engaged during a six-week consultation period.

The Marlow Lagoon Dog Park will receive improvements including:

•    Additional tree planting and artificial shade,
•    Irrigation upgrades for green grass year-round,
•    Double gated entry points; and
•    A dedicated space provision for small dogs and quiet and elderly dogs. 

City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe–Bell thanked the community for providing feedback. 

“Thank you to the Palmerston dog owners who participated in the consultation process. It is clear that the Marlow Lagoon Dog Park is an important public asset for our community and we are eager to provide you and your furry friends with an upgraded facility to enjoy.

“Dog parks are great for improving community wellbeing and provide spaces for people and their pets to gather and exercise,” said the Mayor. 

To accommodate the 6500 dogs registered in the Palmerston municipality in 2019/2020, City of Palmerston is also working on plans for a new dog park in Bakewell, expected to be open in January 2021 and has further plans for another dog park in the suburbs of Zuccoli or Johnston.

Works are anticipated to commence early 2021.
