City of Palmerston is proudly collaborating with the Australian Esport League (AEL) to support the professional development of the Esports Sector in the Northern Territory. 

Participants in this collaboration will learn how best to create Esports tournaments, where individuals and teams play against each other, while spectators watch virtually from the comfort of their homes. With over a million Esports fans across Australia, and 90 percent of these tuning into watch live Twitch tournaments, there is sure to be a great deal of interest in this program. 

A series of successful professional development workshops, for all experience levels was held in May, designed to upskill participants and focus on the elements behind running a successful competition. Featuring experts from across the industry, the workshops covered media, streaming, shout casting (commentary) and key aspects for providing quality and professional esports events. 

The program will now hold free community webinars in June - How to get into Cosplay and How to become an Esports Competitor and Palmerston’s inaugural AEL Palmy Cup - an online competition in Super Smash Bro’s Ultimate and Rocket League with $500.00 in prizes for each game. The 2020 AEL Palmy Cup begins on 17 June and concludes on 12 July. 

Open to all Northern Territory residents, these programs aim to encourage participation in future Geekfest Top End events.
