Following last night’s Ordinary Council Meeting, City of Palmerston will continue to trial laneway treatments based on recommendations from recent consultations, to discourage anti-social behaviour and improve community safety.

In addition to the recommendations made in the report, Council have resolved for an additional five of the laneways to trial temporary night-time closures and will commence consultation for these areas in October.

Existing treatments to stay in place with additional temporary night-time closures to be consulted:

• Gumnut Way to Livistona Park, Moulden - Lighting upgrade with motion sensor
• Livistona Park to Melastoma Drive, Moulden - Lighting upgrade with motion sensor and motorbike treatment
• Staghorn Court to Livistona Park, Moulden – Lighting upgrade with motion sensor
• Staghorn Court to Gumnut Way, Moulden – Lighting upgrade with motion sensor and motorbike treatment
• Priest Circuit to Emery Avenue, Gray - Lighting upgrade with motion sensor

Existing treatments to stay in place with additional temporary full-time closures to be consulted:

• Politis Court to Strawbridge Park, Moulden - Temporary night-time closure and motorbike treatment
• Politis Court to Strawbridge Crescent, Moulden - Temporary night-time closure and motorbike treatment

Following feedback from concerned residents and stakeholders, Council will meet again in November to consider feedback from the community on the additional five night-time closures. If supported the temporary night-time closures will be implemented immediately.

The existing laneway trial treatments will continue to stay in place for:

• Helio Court to Sibbald Park, Woodroffe - Temporary night-time closure
• Priest Circuit to Phineaus Court, Gray - Lighting upgrade
• Bonson Terrace to Staghorn Court, Moulden - Lighting upgrade
• Manson Court to Bonson Terrace, Moulden - Lighting upgrade

A final report taking into consideration all consultations and the 11 trial treatments will be presented in March 2020.
