City of Palmerston is thrilled to receive national recognition for the Zuccoli Pump Track winning the ‘Productivity Through Infrastructure’ category at the 2026 National Awards for Local Government.

The award recognises projects that support sustainable growth, improve liveability and productivity, and deliver long-term economic and community benefits.

Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell, who is attending the Australian Local Government Associations National General Assembly this week, accepted the award on Monday night at Parliament House in Canberra, said the recognition reflects the success of the Zuccoli Pump Track and Council's commitment to delivering projects collaboratively with the community.

"This recognition highlights what can be achieved when we listen to our community and invest in infrastructure that people genuinely want and will use" Mayor Pascoe-Bell said.

"The Zuccoli Pump Track has quickly become a popular destination for local families, children and young people, providing a safe and inclusive place to be active and connect with others.”

The pump track forms part of the broader Zuccoli Community Hub precinct, which has been shaped through community consultation. It demonstrates how thoughtfully planned infrastructure can enhance liveability, encourage active lifestyles and create lasting benefits for our community.

Mayor Pascoe-Bell added "as Palmerston continues to grow, it is critical that we invest in infrastructure that not only meets today's needs but supports the long-term aspirations of our community."

The National Awards for Local Government are Australia's premier local government awards program, recognising councils that deliver innovative projects and services that make a positive difference in their communities.

In addition to the national award win, City of Palmerston also received an Honourable Mention in the Addressing Violence Against Women and Children category for its Domestic Violence Action Plan, recognising Council’s commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive community.
