City of Palmerston is proud to release its first draft Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and is inviting the community to join the conversation.

The draft RAP outlines our commitments to building relationships, understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and ensuring that we are providing equal opportunities for everyone.

The aim of our RAP is to build and implement reconciliation practices into our values, policies and everyday practices. We recognise that reconciliation is not something we do alone; we must be guided by the voices of our community.

Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell, is very much looking forward to finalising this first step towards reconciliation, “This RAP is a commitment to real actions, where we can identify practical steps towards strengthening our partnerships and creating opportunities for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities. By actively listening and learning, we can all work together towards building an even more inclusive and connected Palmerston.”

Dr Christine Fejo-King, RAP working group community member said: “I am honoured to be a member of the working group to help deliver City of Palmerston’s first RAP. It’s an exciting time, and I hope the community can see the commitment Council has towards reconciliation.”

Community engagement is open for feedback until 8 May 2025. You can join the conversation at palmerston.nt.gov.au/community-engagement
