City of Palmerston Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell, Chief Executive Officer and staff are saddened to learn of the passing of Our Most Gracious Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
As Queen of Australia, she oversaw the granting of self-government to the people of the Northern Territory in 1978, and has led the Commonwealth through significant social, economic, technological and political change.
Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell extends her condolences.
“I am saddened to hear of Her Majesty’s passing after reigning for 70 years. Queen Elizabeth was one of a kind with a unique sense of humour, and a steadfast commitment to her duty and service.”
“Her Majesty visited the Northern Territory on multiple occasions and the loss will be felt by us all,” she said.
Territorians wishing to express their condolences on the recent passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II are welcome to leave floral tributes on the exterior front lawns of Government House.
