$90,000 up for grabs in myPalmerston’s second round

Round 2 of the successful myPalmerston discount voucher scheme will commence tomorrow, Wednesday 28 November 2020 with $90,000 on offer.

The initial round saw over 5,300 users and 70 businesses participating in the program, resulting in a total spend of over $225,000 across a range of Palmerston businesses including café’s, hairdressers and retailers.

11 new businesses have jumped on board in time for the second, larger round, including local florist, Flowers By Elise.

“I think it is a wonderful initiative to support local businesses, especially those who have felt the impact of COVID-19,” Elise Bisset, owner of Flowers By Elise said.

“Our regular customers will love to be rewarded with a discount and I am sure it will bring in new customers,” she added.

City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell encourages businesses to register and customers to continue utilising the discount voucher scheme.

“In Round One, $40,000 was spent within two weeks so we are expecting the vouchers to fly out the door. We are glad that we can help provide financial support to Palmerston businesses by providing customers with $90,000 to shop locally with.”

“With $40 worth of vouchers a day, coupled with the free parking City of Palmerston are offering, this is a perfect opportunity to beat that Christmas rush and save some money,” the Mayor said.

Registrations for both businesses and customers will remain open throughout the entirety of myPalmerston.

The final round of funding will be released on 26 November 2020 and will be another $90,000.
