Palmerston Library is making it easier for more residents to stay connected through books, learning and library services with Library to You, a free home delivery service for people who are unable to visit the library in person due to age, illness, disability, mental health challenges or caring responsibilities.
The service delivers books, audiobooks, DVDs and other library resources directly to participants' homes, as well as to hospitals, retirement villages and other community organisations. The community can also receive support accessing and navigating the library's digital resources through the program.
Library staff and volunteers personalise each delivery by selecting materials based on a person’s interests and reading preferences. Deliveries are made fortnightly, with previously borrowed items collected during each visit, making it easy for the whole community to enjoy the library's collection.
Mayor of City of Palmerston, Athina Pascoe-Bell, said Library to You reflects Council's commitment to creating an inclusive community where everyone can access the services they value.
"Our library has something for everyone, and we want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy it," Mayor Pascoe-Bell said.
"Library To You removes barriers for people who can't visit the library in person, helping them stay connected through books, learning and lifelong discovery. It's another way we're making Palmerston a more inclusive and connected community."
