City of Palmerston Library is offering more than books this month, with local café Kopi Stop Palmerston officially opening its doors, creating a vibrant new community meeting place while supporting local business and economic growth.
Operated by local business owner Jules Mou, Kopi Stop Palmerston brings quality coffee, Singaporean dishes and a welcoming atmosphere to one of Palmerston's busiest community facilities, encouraging residents and library visitors to spend more time in the city centre while supporting local enterprise.
The opening reflects City of Palmerston's commitment to creating vibrant community spaces while providing opportunities for local businesses to grow and thrive.
Acting Mayor of City of Palmerston, Wayne Bayliss, said activating community spaces through partnerships with local businesses delivers benefits for both residents and the local economy.
"Supporting local businesses is one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in Palmerston's future," Acting Mayor Bayliss said.
"Kopi Stop Palmerston is more than just a café. It’s a place where people can catch up over coffee, parents can relax after storytime, students can study, and visitors can spend more time enjoying everything our library has to offer."
"Our Municipal Plan identifies the activation of the library café as an important initiative to create a vibrant community hub which boosts activity in the CBD. It's a fantastic example of Council working alongside local businesses to create places people want to visit, stay and connect."
Kopi Stop Palmerston owner Jules Mou said opening at the library was an exciting opportunity to become part of the Palmerston community.
"My team and I incredibly excited to open our third café, Kopi Stop Palmerston, at the City of Palmerston Library. We look forward to serving up our award winning laksa, traditional Singapore kopi, kaya toast and coffee roasted by ONA Coffee in a welcoming space for everyone who walks through the doors," Jules said.
"Libraries are places where communities come together, and we hope our café adds another reason for people to visit, whether it's grabbing a coffee before work, meeting friends for a bite of lunch or enjoying a sweet treat while spending time with family."
"We're proud to be a local business investing in Palmerston and look forward to becoming part of people's daily routine."
As Palmerston continues to grow, Council remains focused on creating vibrant places which support local businesses, strengthen the city centre and make Palmerston an even better place to live, work and visit.
