Palmerston’s CBD is getting ready to unwrap the magic of Christmas with the return of Christmas Wonderland.  Christmas Wonderland 2023 includes exciting new additions that promise to captivate the entire family.

Palmerston’s Goyder Square will see the much-loved express train return as well as illuminating light installations, falling snow, the trussmass tree and much more from Saturday 16 December through to 23 December from 5pm – 9pm. Additionally, on these evenings the new Santa’s Grotto will be open in the City of Palmerston’s Library community room with regular visits from Santa, perfect for family photos.

Recognising the significance of inclusivity, Council is again offering a low-sensory Christmas Wonderland evening tailored for Palmerston community members who benefit from reduced sensory stimulation. This evening will feature lower lighting, softer music, and smaller crowds.

Another exciting new addition will be craft markets held at the Recreation Centre during Christmas Wonderland in partnership with Tactile Arts. These markets will offer a range of over 30 stalls for those last-minute festive purchases. Also available will be Christmas craft activities, perfect for family bonding.

Palmerston is known for its homes with amazing Christmas lights and is again encouraged to embrace the Christmas spirit by decorating their homes. Those in Palmerston who register for the Mix 104.9 FM Christmas Light Competition stand a chance to win one (1) of three (3) City of Palmerston prize packs.

“We are excited to bring our Makers Market to Palmerston and join in the Christmas festivities. All the items at the Tactile Arts Makers Markets are handmade by local small businesses. So, this is a great opportunity to buy and support local this Christmas. It’s a complete evening out for the family, with an opportunity to shop, and make a Christmas card or two during our craft activities.” Said Tactile Arts General Manager, Aneka Truman.

City of Palmerston Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell, expressed her excitement for the upcoming festivities: "Christmas in Palmerston is a time of joy, togetherness, and community spirit. This year's Christmas Wonderland promises to be more magical than ever, with new additions and inclusive events so everyone can enjoy. Let's come together to celebrate the magic of the season and create lasting memories."

Palmerston invites the community to join in the holiday joy, create cherished memories, and revel in the magic of Christmas. For all event and activity details visit https://palmerston.nt.gov.au/events.
