International Women’s Day (IWD) is this Wednesday 8 March, and the City of Palmerston has a week packed with events planned to connect, educate and celebrate the women of Palmerston and around the world.

Palmerston is hosting a week bursting with empowering, engaging, FREE activities and events from Monday 6 to Friday 10 March. The week will focus on investing in the women of our community by providing opportunities to explore new interests and social connections in a supportive, inclusive environment.

The program of events includes cultural exhibits, physical wellbeing and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities:

City of Palmerston Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell, launched the International Women’s Week celebrations this morning at the Palmerston Recreation Centre.

“The women of our community are skilled, diverse, strong, and so much more. Their contributions and those made by women around the world towards equality are truly worth celebrating, and I look forward to participating in this week’s activities alongside some of them,” she said.
