City of Palmerston is set to sparkle once again for ‘Christmas Wonderland’ in 2021.
Last year’s Christmas celebrations brought a new level of Christmas joy to Goyder square with residents and visitors from afar lining up to experience the display, and we get to do it all again this year.

Council excitedly passed the added element to run a ‘Community Christmas Lights competition’ which will see households vie for the title as they put on their best light display of ‘dancing reindeers’ and ‘waving santas’.

To be a part of the competition, residents will need to decorate their house and register online. The decorated houses will go onto our live mapping system so others can map their ‘Christmas lights drive’ and vote for their favourite house!

Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell was delighted that the Christmas event is back again this year.

“My children, husband and I absolutely LOVED last year’s Christmas Wonderland event. It has been one of the most talked about events, and I for one, can’t wait to do it all again.”

The Christmas Wonderland event will run from Friday 17 December and close on the evening of 24 December. The event runs in Goyder square, which will be closed off, from 5pm – 9:30pm for the 8 nights. Last years event saw more that 15,000 people in attendance.

“The Christmas Wonderland event will provide that much needed cheer and sparkle to the community, particularly after the year that we have all had. It’s something to experience with your kids, friends or family, but also together as a community.”

Registrations for the Community Christmas lights will open from 17 November, closing on 3 December.

“Looking at Christmas lights is always a big deal in my household, and every year we jump in the car and drive around looking at all the houses that have been decorated. I can’t wait to see what the residents of Palmerston have in store for us this year. I encourage anyone that decorates their house to enter the competition online before it closes.”
