The Northern Territory Electoral Commission today officially announced the eight Elected Members who will form the 9th City of Palmerston Council.

The eight members will be officially sworn in, taking an Affirmation of Office, in front of local Government representatives, family and friends at a special ceremony on Wednesday 4 April 2018.

City of Palmerston CEO, Luccio Cercarelli, congratulates the newly elected Council and anticipates working together to achieve great things for Palmerston.

“The primary role of an Elected Member is to represent their community, providing a link between community and the Council. We have a good mix of new and experienced local government representatives, and I look forward to working with our new members to continue to deliver great projects and improved services for the people of Palmerston. It’s going to be an exciting time.

On behalf of Council, I would like to thank Mark Blackburn for his governance and support during his time as the Official Manager. and wish him well in his retirement,” he said.

The new Council will sit for their first Ordinary Council meeting on Tuesday 17 April, with the appointment of a Deputy Mayor the initial order of business.

As with all Council meetings, residents are encouraged to attend to experience council decision-making processes and meet their local representatives.
