Palmerston ratepayers will soon be able to access their rate notices electronically, following Council’s decision at last night’s meeting, to introduce Ezybill.
Ezybill allows ratepayers to receive their rates notice directly to a nominated email address.
Official Manager, Mark Blackburn said introducing this service will improve customer service and has environmental benefits for the community.
“Receiving a rate notice electronically provides a more flexible, reliable and quicker avenue to receive your rates notices from Council.
It also increases environmental sustainability as there is no printing, paper waste or transport pollution associated with this method.
Council received feedback that ratepayers would like to see electronic rate notices available to them, so it is pleasing that this option will soon be available to them,” he said.
Residents will be able to register for Ezybill by August, in time for the 2018/19 rates notice.
Information provided will be secure and remain private. Ratepayers may opt out of this service at any time. Council will continue to post rates notices to ratepayers who do not wish to participate.
Council will meet its initial software set up costs of $400 once 470 subscribers sign up. Following this, Council will save 85 cents per rates notice or reminder.
