Palmerston residents and visitors can beat the heat and swim for free, as City of Palmerston reintroduces free entry to the Palmerston Pool until 30 June this year for all pool users.

This comes after a successful free entry trial over the Christmas School holiday period which saw a nearly 150 percent increase in pool visitations over the trial period.

The Centre boasts a 50-metre swimming pool with eight lanes and a separate toddler pool, as well as plenty of shade, picnic tables, a kiosk providing refreshments and free parking.

Free entry into the pool will be available from Wednesday 4 March 2020 to Tuesday 30 June 2020. The Palmerston Swimming and Fitness Centre wet season hours (to 30 April) are:
Monday to Friday      5.30am - 7.00pm
Saturday                   8.00am - 7.00pm
Sunday                     9.00am - 7.00pm
Public Holidays         9.00am - 5.00pm

Existing fees and charges will remain for access to other services at the Palmerston Swimming and Fitness Centre including the gym and special classes.

‘Splashing Out’ is a key Major Project under Council’s Pr6jects with a masterplan for a redeveloped centre now underway, including new pool and refurbished facility elements.

Quote from the City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell

“We understand entry fees can be a barrier for some people when using the pool, so we are pleased to extend this opportunity for users.”

“Our community is the centre of everything we do and deliver. Council is committed to providing the community with a range of engaging activities to beat the heat.”
