City of Palmerston to farewell CEO Luccio Cercarelli
City of Palmerston will farewell Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Luccio Cercarelli as he pursues new opportunities with the Northern Territory Government’s Department of Housing, Local Government and Community Development.
During his nearly seven years with Council, Mr Cercarelli successfully navigated complex challenges, implemented significant initiatives, successfully obtained funding and, most importantly, worked tirelessly to enhance the wellbeing and prosperity of the Palmerston community.
Mr Cercarelli said he was proud of his time at City of Palmerston.
“I want to thank the Mayor, Councillors and our employees for all their support and hard work over my tenure as City of Palmerston CEO. Reflecting on the past nearly seven years, I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. I will watch on with great interest as City of Palmerton continues to thrive and achieve even greater milestones in the future”, he said.
Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell said, “The City of Palmerston Council wishes CEO Luccio Cercarelli all the best in his new role with the Northern Territory Government.”
“The Mayor and Councillors would like to thank Luccio for his passion and commitment to Palmerston. The past six plus years have seen significant changes to operations, customer service and delivery of significant projects in the city, including the roll out of Smart LED streetlights, Gray Community Hall, SWELL, Christmas Wonderland, Darwin Festival, the first stages of Zuccoli Community Hub, new Animal Management by-laws, and numerous changes to the way the council interacts with the community. These changes would not have been possible without a Chief Executive Officer of Luccio’s calibre.”
“While this is a significant loss to our city, the Council recognises that Luccio’s move to head the Local Government sector at the Northern Territory Government level is a win for all councils in the Northern Territory, and we look forward to working with Luccio in this new capacity,” said Mayor Pascoe-Bell.
Luccio’s final day with City of Palmerston will be 27 September 2024. The Council will appoint an interim CEO while undertaking recruitment for a new CEO.
