City of Palmerston embarks on first Reconciliation Action Plan

City of Palmerston are excited to announce positions are now open for local Palmerston community members to join us in forming the very first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) working group.

“We are excited to embark on the official journey to develop our very first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The RAP will build on the strong foundations that we already have in place through the development of our Inclusive, Diverse & Accessible Policy Framework. This initiative marks yet another step towards fostering a community built on respect, trust, and shared values for all. We are calling out to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, including our local business and organisations, to send through their expression of interest.” Said Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell.

As a collaborative first step, we are encouraging interested Palmerston Residents and Palmerston based organisations to send in an expression of interest identifying what they can bring to the working group, and how their skills, experience and knowledge would benefit the first Palmerston RAP. Our working group will be adopting Reconciliation Australia’s framework of relationships, respect and opportunities. These key pillars will be vital towards implementing reconciliation initiatives in the workplace.

We are calling for expressions of interest from anyone who feels they can contribute positively to this important progress, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members. Successful community members of the working group will be remunerated.

Head to City of Palmerston’s website for more information and how to submit an expression of interest.
