City of Palmerston Councillor, Benjamin Giesecke, has been elected by Council to take on the role of the City’s Deputy Mayor.
Councillor Giesecke will perform this role commencing 2 January 2024 to 27 July 2024.
City of Palmerston Councillors are nominated every 207 days to fill the role, providing all Councillors the opportunity to serve as the family city’s Deputy Mayor. In line with our Vision to be ‘A Place for People’, Councillors demonstrate their humility by nominating and electing one another for the six-month term.
Councillor Giesecke has been an Elected Member for City of Palmerston since 2018 and is an active member of Council and Palmerston’s multicultural community. He has a keen eye for detail, making the step up to fulfil the Deputy Mayor duties come naturally.
“We are privileged to have a group of Councillors at Palmerston who can all step up to take on the Deputy Mayor role, and I’m especially humbled to have been elected by my peers,” said Councillor Giesecke.
Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell congratulated Councillor Giesecke, saying “I congratulate Councillor Giesecke for the nomination and the acceptance and am sure he will bring a great deal to this important role. I look forward to working closely with him during his term as Deputy Mayor”.
“I would like to thank current Deputy Mayor, Danielle Eveleigh, for her hard work in her term in the role, especially for the support she has provided me over the past few months,” she said.
City of Palmerston’s next Council meeting will be held at 5:30pm on 16 January 2024 at Council Chambers, Civic Plaza, 1 Chung Wah Terrace, Palmerston, with regular meetings to continue on the first and third Tuesdays of each month after then.
All Council meetings are open to the public and the public forums prior to meetings present a great opportunity to discuss the City with Palmerston’s Elected Members.
