The City of Palmerston, with the support of The Northern Territory Government are excited to host the first ever Palmerston Youth Festival, which will run 13 to 20 July to coincide with the July school holidays.
The Festival will host nine FREE events over eight days, that celebrate art, culture, sport, music, gaming, cinema and performance arts and will include competitions and prizes that encourage youth participation and community engagement.
2019 Young Australian of the Year and award-winning hip hop artist ‘The Fresh Prince of Arnhem Land’ Baker Boy, will headline the free Palmy Street Party on Saturday 20 July.
“The City of Palmerston is excited to be working with Northern Territory Government on the inaugural Palmerston Youth Festival.” said Palmerston Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell.
“We invite young people and their families to join us in Palmerston and enjoy a week jam packed with events dedicated to our youth community.”
The popular Top End Geekfest will return and mark the official opening of the Festival on Saturday 13 July, this year with the two new additions, Box Wars and the 3D Chalk Twins. Other events will include live theatre performances, stand-up comedy, street art workshops and demonstrations and an Anime-A-Thon movie marathon.
There are plenty of opportunities and incentives for young people to get involved, with a Suburb of Origin 3On3 Basketball competition, Extreme Sports Photo Competition and Break/freestyle Dance Battle.
The Rookie Cooks Youth Cooking Competition hosted by celebrity foodie adventurer Hayden Quinn, will give aspiring young chefs the opportunity to win the ultimate foodie day out with Hayden in his hometown of Sydney.
