The Palmerston Harmony Day Family Festival planned for this Saturday 24 March has been cancelled due to the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Marcus.

City of Palmerston Official Manager, Mark Blackburn said while it is disappointing, the safety and welfare of our participants, officials, performers and the community are first and foremost when making this decision.

"The event was to be held on the Gray Football Stadium fields, and included a number of soccer matches, cultural performances and kid’s activities.

Unfortunately, these fields have been impacted by recent weather conditions.

Council also took into consideration the many community members, including those who are assisting and participating in the event, those who are juggling work, power outages, cleaning their properties and supporting friends, family and neighbours during this time,” he said.

City of Palmerston would like to thank the organisations who have dedicated their time and efforts in planning the event: the Palmerston Football Club, Football without Boarders, Football Federation NT, Catholic Care, the NO MORE Campaign, the Melaleuca Refugee Centre, Larrakia Nation, MCNT, Headspace, NT Athletics, the Northern Territory Government and local migrant communities.
