Palmerston Alderman Damian Hale has become the City’s new Deputy Mayor, after being elected by his Council colleagues at the ordinary meeting on Tuesday 17 April 2018.
The new Council sat for the first-time last night since the 24 March Local Government election, with its inaugural order of business to appoint a Deputy Mayor.
A vote for the position was conducted, with the appointed Alderman effective in the role from Wednesday 18 April 2018.
Council also endorsed the terms for the position of Deputy Mayor to be for a term of five months, allowing the opportunity for other Alderman to fulfil the role.
On acceptance, Deputy Mayor Hale thanked his fellow Elected Members.
“I am honoured and humbled by my election to the position of Deputy Mayor. I thank the Mayor and my Alderman colleagues for the trust they have shown in me by endorsing my nomination.
I look forward to working closely with them as a team to deliver positive outcomes for the people of Palmerston,” he said.
