Prepare to celebrate all things geek culture as Geekfest Top End returns to Palmerston this June.

In its inaugural year (2017), the event’s popularity saw over 600 people (many dressed as their favourite digital game and film characters), cross the City of Palmerston Library threshold, into a parallel geek dimension.

2018 will see the event conquer three exciting locations; the City of Palmerston Library, Palmerston Recreation Centre and the Goyder Square lawns.

“We are thrilled to be bringing this event back to Palmerston. We were overwhelmed with the public response last year and aim to offer an even more engaging event this year.

Geekfest Top End is an exciting program of free activities and new experiences. It also allows our community to showcase their diversity and their array of talents and interests,” said City of Palmerston Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell.

Attendees will be treated to a range of entertainment and engaging activities, including virtual reality, PC, console and tabletop gaming, a dedicated anime movie room showing a mix of classics and fan favourites, a green-screen photobooth, body art, demonstrations, a cosplay competition and music provided by a live DJ.

A highlight of the program will see the Palmerston Recreation Centre transformed into two indoor laser tag arenas.

Geekfest Top End will be held on Saturday 23 June, 4-9pm and is open to all ages. Children aged 10 and under need to be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times.
