Widdup Park Upgrades 2026

City of Palmerston is planning improvements to Widdup Park to create a more welcoming, active and enjoyable space for the local community.

We want to hear from people who live nearby, young people and current park users about what they would like to see as part of the upgrade.

The project is focused on improving the park for its local catchment.

What is proposed?

The current concept includes:

  • An all-abilities playground
  • Refurbishment of the existing basketball court
  • Sporting equipment and activities for young people
  • Shade over play and sporting areas
  • Irrigation and landscaping improvements
  • Shaded seating
  • Replacement of soft fall
  • Retention of the existing graffiti wall/half-court

The project will be delivered in stages, with Stage 1 focused on the redevelopment of the play equipment and refurbishment of the basketball court.

The concepts are preliminary and will be refined as the project progresses.

Why is the park being upgraded?

Widdup Park is currently in poor condition and requires refurbishment to improve its amenity and encourage greater use of the space by the local community.

As a local park, the upgrade is designed to serve the immediate local catchment. This means investment will focus on a small number of play, sporting and recreational activities rather than larger facilities such as those typically provided at major or regional parks.

The project has a limited budget, so community feedback will help identify what is most important within the proposed scope.
