City of Palmerston Parking Policy

Parking in Palmerston is a conversation worth having.

In an effort towards planning for our growing community, we have developed a Draft Parking Policy (the Policy) which will help us advocate for funding towards things like additional shelter, increased accessible parking spots, more tree planting, safety and security features and more.

What’s in the policy

The policy framework has a focus on four key themes:

  • Meeting parking demand
  • Encouraging movement and accessibility
  • Optimising infrastructure
  • Greening, shading and overall appearance

Each theme is supported by actions but we need your help. What is missing? What is important to you when you park your car.
Join the conversation and share your feedback in one of the following ways:

Feedback form below
A good park in the morning can really set the tone of everyone's day - so let us know!
Tell us below what you want to see in our car parking spaces now and in the future. Is it more trees and shelter? More paths that connect? Time limit changes or additional locations? Improve accessible parking or more bike/scooter parking? What about when all the parks are empty...can we turn the space into something during off-peak periods? Your information will feed into the Draft Policy, but also be considered in other important plans and strategies for the city.
