Disability Inclusion and Access Plan 2026-2028

City of Palmerston is committed to creating a community where every individual has equal rights and opportunities to access our services, activities, and facilities.

Our draft Disability Inclusion and Access Plan (DIAP) 2026–2028 outlines how we will continue to improve inclusion, accessibility and participation across our city over the next three years. The Plan aligns with the Northern Territory Disability Strategy 2022–2032 and recognises the important role local government plays in supporting people with disability to reach their full potential. Diversity and accessibility are also embedded throughout many of Council's strategic plans and guide how we plan future projects, services and initiatives.

People with disability are the experts in their own lives. That's why we're seeking feedback from people with lived experience, as well as their families, carers, advocates, service providers and the wider community.

Every person's experience is different. A barrier for one person may not affect another, and the support which works well for one person may not meet someone else's needs. By hearing a broad range of experiences and perspectives, we can better understand the barriers people face, avoid assumptions and shape actions which are practical, inclusive and responsive.

Whether you'd like to tell us what's working well, what could be improved, or what would make it easier to participate in community life, we'd love to hear from you.
