We will respond to reports of graffiti in a timely manner and will prioritise offensive graffiti.

Non-Council property

We provide assistance to residents who wish to remove graffiti from private property.

We have an initiative to support residents with their private property graffiti removal through a rebate of up to $50 for the eligible costs. Costs eligible for rebate include contractor costs (ie painter, cleaning contractor) or materials (ie paint, chemicals).

To be eligible for the rebate, you:

  • Must live in the Palmerston municipality
  • Can only claim one rebate per instance graffiti up to a total of 4 instances per year

To claim your rebate:

  • Buy your materials from a Northern Territory business or engage a local contractor
  • Complete the reimbursement application and submit with the required documentation
  • Provide before and after photos of the graffiti

A grant of up to $500 is also available to community groups to undertake larger graffiti removal activities within Palmerston. To make an application, please complete and submit the graffiti removal grant application form.

Public art and street zones

There has been success in other urban areas in combating graffiti by introducing street art zones and the implementation of street art permits. Research shows that such spaces reduce the rate of unauthorised graffiti in the surrounding area. If you would like to recommend a location or participate in a program, please contact us.
