PALMERSTON SPRINGS IN TO CLEAN UP THE ESCARPMENT
City of Palmerston invites the community to join the Great Spring Clean Up on Saturday, 28 September, from 8:00am to 10:00am at Cunningham Park, Palmerston Escarpment. The initiative aims to rally residents to help preserve the natural beauty of Palmerston and protect the environment.
Volunteers will be provided with gloves and rubbish bags to assist in the clean-up. Afterwards, all volunteers will enjoy complimentary coffee and breakfast as a thank-you for their efforts. Participants are advised to wear closed-in shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. The clean-up aims to prevent rubbish from entering waterways and ensure the Escarpment remains a safe and welcoming space for all.
Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell highlighted the significance of community action in promoting sustainability stating: “By coming together for the Great Spring Clean Up, we’re doing our bit for the local area and reaffirming our commitment to sustainability. I encourage all residents to get involved and collectively we can make a difference.”
Volunteers can receive a certificate of participation, ideal for students contributing to their community portfolios. Participants are encouraged to clean up other areas of Palmerston, but all volunteers must return to Cunningham Park by 10:00am to register and drop off their collected rubbish in order to receive their certificate.
