Local Government Elections are held every four years, with the next scheduled for Saturday 23 August 2025. Territorians will vote to elect council representatives for their local communities, including City of Palmerston.

The Northern Territory Electoral Commission is the independent government agency responsible for the conduct of Local Government Elections.

In the City of Palmerston local government area, voters will elect:

  • Mayor
  • Seven councillors, representing the entire council area.

Voting Centres

Information on early and election day voting centres in available on the Northern Territory Electoral Commission website.

In Palmerston, early voting is taking place at the Palmerston Recreation Centre, 11 The Boulevard, Palmerston from 11-23 August 2025.

Election day voting centres on 23 August 2025 are:

  • SWELL (Palmerston Pool), 33 Tilston Avenue, Moulden
  • Palmerston Recreation Centre, 11 The Boulevard, Palmerston
  • Palmerston College 7-9 Campus, 185 Forrest Parade, Rosebery.

Election signage

Election signs cannot be placed on Council land.
Election signs may be placed on private property provided they meet the conditions outlined in the information sheet here.
