Clean Up Australia Day

This Clean Up Australia Day, we’re inviting everyone to come together and clean up our beautiful part of the world. 

Bring your friends, families and neighbours, roll up your sleeves and help care for our local parks, streets and shared spaces.

Event Details

• Date: Sunday 1 March 2026
• Time: 8:00 am – 10:00 am
• Location: Deleny Gwa Park, 56 Tuckeroo Boulevard

Find us at Mitchell Creek, Palmerston’s natural drainage waterway. Volunteers will sign in at the meeting point and are then welcome to collect litter from any part of the Mitchell Creek area and are not limited to staying at the central location.
 

What’s happening

• Volunteers can enjoy a complimentary BBQ breakfast and coffee when they hand in a bag of collected rubbish.
• One of Cleanaway’s large waste-collection trucks will be onsite for everyone to see. Take a closer look and meet the crew who help care for Palmerston every day.
• Swing by Landcare NT’s interactive stall to discover the projects they’re running to protect and restore our environment. Learn how plants, wildlife and community programs come together to care for our surroundings.
• Come meet our friendly Council Rangers and chat about all things Palmerston.
   

What’s included

• Family friendly activities for all ages.
• Fun and interactive experiences with our special guests.
• Clean Up kits for each participant, including gloves and rubbish bags. We encourage participants to bring their own gloves.
• Volunteers can receive a certificate of participation, ideal for students contributing to their community portfolios.

Every bag of rubbish helps care for our environment, protect our animals and look after the spaces we share as a community. Together, we can make a real difference for Palmerston and the places we all love.
