Palmerston’s annual pre-cyclone clean-up about to kick off
Palmerston residents are encouraged to cyclone-proof their yard, as crews prepare to begin the collection next week.
To make it easy for residents, City of Palmerston’s Pre-Cyclone Clean-Up is divided into four (4) zones just like the bin collections, with each collection day beginning on a Monday until complete. Residents are asked to place eligible items on their verge the weekend prior. Be sure to lock the following dates into your diaries:
Zone 1 – Marlow Lagoon, Driver and Moulden
Monday, 9 September
Zone 2 – Bellamack, Rosebery, Woodroffe and Bakewell
Monday, 16 September
Zone 3 – Gray, Gunn, Palmerston CBD and Durack
Monday, 23 September
Zone 4 – Johnston, Zuccoli and Farrar
Monday, 30 September
City of Palmerston Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell encourages Palmerston residents to take advantage of the annual hard waste collection.
“Our hard waste collection is very popular and we want to make sure that everyone takes advantage of it this year. This free service provides a great opportunity to clean up your yard and remove items that can cause damage during a cyclone.
We ask that you be sure to follow the instructions by Council of the items that can and cannot be collected, and please only place your eligible items on the verge the weekend prior to pick-up, not before.
Our City of Palmerston mobile app makes it easy to create a personalised reminder for your suburb, ensuring nobody will forget!
Last year we collected over 190 tonnes of material, of which 33% was able to be recycled (a 5% increase on the previous year),” she said.
