On the 26th of January each year, City of Palmerston commemorates Australia Day Ceremony with the official raising of the National Flags of Australia, welcoming the country’s newest residents in a special Citizenship Ceremony and presenting the city's coveted Australia Day Awards.
City of Palmerston recognises the contributions members of our community make towards a brighter and better future, keeping our vision 'A Place for People', alive.
We acknowledge and recognise the selfless efforts of individuals and groups within our community, who embrace this vision through the Palmerston Australia Day Awards.
We encourage you to submit a nomination for these prestigious awards and recognise other's commitment to our community.

Winners of the 2025 Palmerston Australia Day Awards will be announced at City of Palmerston’s Australia Day ceremony, to be held on 26 January 2025 at the Palmerston Recreation Centre.
The Palmerston Australia Day Awards are provided by the Australia Day Council NT and are administered by Local Government Authorities. Each Local Government area will be responsible for the criteria for the presentation of the Award.
Categories
- Citizen of the Year

Must be 30 years or older as at 26 January 2025.
Must be an Australian Citizen.
Must reside in the Municipality of Palmerston.
Consideration is given, but not limited to the following selection criteria;
- Has performed a service to the community
- Has played an inspirational role for the Australian Community
- Has shown achievements in community activities, academic, sporting, personal cultural, environmental and or social responsibility
- Young Citizen of the Year

Must be between 16 - 29 years as at 26 January 2025.
Must be an Australian Citizen.
Must reside in the Municipality of Palmerston.
Consideration is given, but not limited to the following selection criteria;
- Has performed a service to the community
- Has played an inspirational role for the Australian Community
- Has shown achievements in community activities, academic, sporting, personal cultural, environmental and or social responsibility
- Community Event or Group of the Year

This award is to recognise and encourage significant contributions to community life and to promote national pride and community responsibility within the Palmerston Municipality.
Consideration is given, but not limited to the following selection criteria;
- Raised funds for a community charity, event, or project
- Was a successful project, event, or activity
- Brought credit or recognition to a community through a cultural, environmental, or sporting achievement
The event must have occurred in the Municipality of Palmerston.
