With over 100 parks in our region it's great to get out and about in Palmerston. Residents will find kilometres of paths for walking, jogging and cycling, with exercise equipment dotting around the City.

Get walking

Walking is the number one activity most Australians adults do on a regular basis. Walking is so popular because it is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It can be done just about anywhere and is free.

Walking also has a very low risk of injury, as it is low impact (not jarring on the joints) and doesn’t require any special equipment or training. People can talk while they walk so it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours and your neighbourhood.

Palmerston offers plenty of green outdoor space and many kilometres of walking and cycle paths. For more information, view the walking and cycle map or exploring your city.

Heart Foundation Walking is Australia’s largest network of free community-based walking groups, led by volunteer Walk Organisers.

City of Palmerston is an Area Coordinator for Heart Foundation Walking. Visit Heart Foundation Walking to find a walking group near you.

Outdoor exersites

More commonly described as outdoor exercise equipment, the sites are located at:

  • Confalonieri Park, next to the Gray Community Hall
  • President Park, Driver
  • Durack - Woodlake Blvd, corner of Pritchardia
  • Joan Fejo Park, Duwan Road, Rosebery

These free to use facilities have been designed to be within easy walking distance of each other, creating a fitness trail for residents. Best of all, they're available for everyone to use so you can get a great workout, at your own pace, at any time.
