Share a musical journey with Mbackeh, learn some exciting rhythms in an interactive group and gain an insight into a different culture! Drums available at the sessions for practice, or you’re welcome to bring your own!

About the artist

For twenty years Mbackeh has worked Australia wide providing exciting cultural learning experiences for all ages and abilities through performances and workshops, particularly in schools and at Festivals.

Born into a “Griot” family (the musical historians of West Africa), Mbackeh is well known for his powerful singing skills, pounding drumming and wild dancing. He specialises in vibrant traditional Afro-Manding rhythms (The Gambia, Senegal, Mali & Guinea.) but writes songs with contemporary powerful social messages relevant to all, recorded on 3 CD’s. He performs internationally.

This six week workshop is one of four creative workshops offered by City of Palmerston this May/June.
